Felts Mills woman sentenced for possessing child pornography
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - A Felts Mills woman must register as a sex offender for possessing child pornography.
Trudy Latimer was sentenced Tuesday in Jefferson County Court to 10 years probation.
She was also ordered to register as a Level 1 sex offender with the state.
New York considers Level 1 offenders to be at a low risk of committing the same type of crime in the future.
In March, Latimer pleaded guilty to possession of a sexual performance by a child.
State police said they received a tip in September 2020 of possible child pornography in the home Latimer shared with Stephen Leeder.
The couple was arrested in December 2022.
Electronic items were seized when police executed a search warrant, and child pornography was found during the investigation.
In a separate case, state police arrested Latimer in November 2022 on felony counts of possession of a forged instrument and offering a false instrument for filing.
The arrest stemmed from a complaint that she was operating as a hearing aid dispenser trainee in the town of LeRay under a forged license.
Police said Latimer lied on a job application by saying she had not been convicted of a crime; she had two prior felony convictions.
When she pleaded guilty to the child pornography charge in March, she also entered guilty pleas to counts of perjury, possession of a forged instrument and attempted possession of a forged instrument.
