LOWVILLE, New York (WWNY) - Some drivers could lose their licenses by the end of the month if they don’t act quickly.

Anyone who renewed their driver’s license between March 2020 and August 2021 has until this Sunday to submit a vision test to their local Department of Motor Vehicles.

There are several ways to do that like stopping by a pharmacy, getting a screening from a doctor, or heading to the DMV directly.

Your license will be suspended if you don’t submit a test, and there are consequences for driving after a suspension.

“You would be, you know, ticketed in front of a judge and you would be subject to a civil penalty. It could either be length of not being able to regain your license or some sort of monetary payment depending on the severity of your action,” said Lewis County Clerk Jake Moser.

Moser says there are still 64 people in his county who need to provide a vision test.

There are 319 in Jefferson County and 236 in St. Lawrence County.

Notices were sent to them.
