WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Zoo New York in Watertown desperately needs financial support and officials are looking at options for future funding:

Watertown can no longer sustain a zoo...Let’s close this thing down.

Teresa L Jenkins

Save the zoo. We’re so lucky to have it in our backyard.

Susan Flavin

A trip to the Syracuse zoo is $28 for my family of 4, but the local zoo is $42 for the same size family. Lower the cost to be competitive.

Stephanie Chouinard

The reason the Syracuse zoo is cheaper is that funding for the zoo is included in the tax levy. Taxpayers help subsidize that zoo.

State police say two troopers were taken to the hospital after their patrol car crashed while responding to an incident in St. Lawrence County. According to a Facebook post, the vehicle caught fire. The troopers were treated at the hospital and released:

I’m sure no tickets will be given but if it was somebody else...they’d get a ticket for not slowing down.

Jen Stone

I was a Trooper (for) 20+ years...They won’t get a ticket. Instead, they will lose thousands of dollars in time taken from them as punishment.

Bret Martin

We are all human. We make mistakes. It doesn’t matter what our job title is. I’m glad everyone involved was okay.

Alicia Shannon

The wait is almost over. Marshalls is set to open in Lowville on October 26:

Great news for Lowville and Lewis County.

Scott Lawrence

OMG!!! We need a girls’ trip. I friggen love this store!
