JCC offers teacher assistant program
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Teacher assistants looking to further their education and advance their careers might be interested in Jefferson Community College’s Teacher Assistant Level II micro-credential program.
Leah Deasy, chair of the School of Education, Behavioral Sciences, and Public Services, and an associate professor at JCC, appeared on 7 News at Noon on Wednesday. Watch her interview above.
The program is comprised of 3 courses totaling 9 credits. Students have the option of taking the courses online or in person.
Upon successful completion, students receive a digital badge and college transcript.
Credits are transferrable to JCC’s Childhood Education and Early Childhood degree programs, both serving as transfer pathways to a bachelor’s degree at SUNY Potsdam or another 4-year institution.
The courses that make up the Teacher Assistant Level II micro-credential are:
- Principles of Education
- Research and Composition
- Introduction to Psychology
Students must have their teaching assistant certificate before enrolling in the program.
