Historical Society raises $30K for new boiler, still needs about $6K
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Within 24 hours of 7 News reporting that the Jefferson County Historical Society needs help to get the museum’s heat back on, officials say the community has come through in a big way.
On Tuesday, we reported that the boiler system in the Washington Street building needs to be replaced. The estimated cost to do that is a little over $35,000.
On Wednesday, Executive Director Toni Engleman appeared on 7 News at Noon and said the historical society has some good news.
She said the museum received a private donation of $10,000 and the Northern New York Community Foundation contributed $20,000.
With $30,000 raised, the historical society hopes the community can help raise the rest of the money.
If you’d like more information on how to donate, contact the museum at 315-782-3491 or email jeffersonchs2015@gmail.com.
